What's wrong with being a "core gamer"? I've been one all my life!

I think it's a smart move to try and downplay the MMO angle for the console versions. A great many console players just want 'more TES' or 'Skyrim with mates,' but perhaps already shy away from taking the plunge in MMORPGs or feel that MMORPGs aren't 'for them.'

However, I don't think 'MMO' is a dirty word overall - in fact we're seeing loads of games pretending to be MMOs! Destiny and The Crew hide behind the label to justify w...

Erm, yeah. What you said. People will argue about how each perspective is "OP" due to the different FOV and camera height, but stuff it, just do both.

Was about to write this, no need! Well said.

IIRC plenty of people were asking why the Pre-Sequel didn't release on PS4 and Xbox One, so there's definitely an audience who are asking for this. As TimeSkipLuffy (oh man, I need to get back into One Piece) says, I suppose it's up to each individual gamer to decide whether they need it or if the cash is better put towards a true new-gen game.

Personally I'll be holding off until the price comes down, though, seeing as I already played BL2 to death on PC, 360...

It was quite buggy on Xbox 360 too, when I played it. Quite a lot of glitches and the occasional trigger failing to... erm, trigger I guess. Hope they'll polish it up.

This seems right up your street then! If you never played BL2 or TPS, it's crazy value.

4042d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah, seems that way. It's definitely better value than Sleeping Dogs or Tomb Raider Definitive, though a crying shame that BL1 isn't in there, or any major gameplay improvements such as GTA V brought to the table (excluding the 4-player splitscreen).

Good call for the summer once the big releases slow down, I reckon. Well, assuming that the graphical upgrades are actually meaningful and the whole thing isn't full of bugs, that is.

Gamers were up in arms for writers/critics to be up-front, honest and call it how they see it rather than drumming up pre-order hype. Now that's happening, people are annoyed that writers are being too harsh. There has to be a double standard here, surely?

Oh come on. I'm as excited as anyone, but we've seen literally nothing of it so far.

And Until Dawn. And Everybody's Gone To The Rapture. And The Tomorrow Children. And Planetside 2. And The Witness.

And E3/gamescom announcements.

And the multiplats (Batman, Witcher 3, Evolve).

It's not going to be a bad 2015, is it... ;)

You seem to have accidentally missed out the second half of that paragraph. ;)

Yeah, really nice compact summation! Fully agreed on all points. It still feels like a From Software game, only it's a different kind of difficult - the parrying is absolutely marvellous and makes combat feel much more dynamic.

But I think that we'll say, "damn, I screwed up," rather than "damn you From Software!" a bit more. A bit more, mind, I agree that the challenge will still be stacked against.

4048d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yeah, it's about knowing when to hang back, when to run and when to get involved - hard and brutal. And when to lob a stone at some weird wingless bird things and run away screaming. :P

4048d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Or staggering the enemy with a brutal and perfectly timed counter (even the weapon transforming animation!). Lots of options.

It's certainly one of the most competent and confident Nintendo Direct presentations I've ever seen. It's like they've got their second wind.

Definitely getting that MH4 3DS XL if I can.

Dunno about worrying, but it sure is stupid. Seems like they were desperate to find something, anything, to justify a pre-purchase without creating any additional assets and this was the best they could come up with.

"Hey, pay full price before launch with no resale value and get the ability to not have to play our boring repetitive game to unlock the characters!"

On second thought, maybe it is a bit worrying.

4049d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

Well they've pledged to release them on all platforms before the launch of the PC version. They've made vague assurances before that totally fell through, but this is much more specific.

@decrypt: Heh, I feel you! Only got about 80 myself (I'm trying to cut down on the Bundle Stars bundles!), but those bundles and winter sale deals all add up.

Good luck in making a dent there! Any two of those MP games you mentioned will last until March by themselves.

Loadout is also well worth checking out on PS4, as is Warframe (even if it can be hard to find new players to group with for early game content)
